21 NIT students get annual package of Rs52 lakh
Even as most BTech students across the state have been ruing the lack of placement opportunities, as many as 21 students from Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jalandhar have secured placements with an impressive annual package of Rs 52 lakh in the recently concluded campus placement drive.
Among the selected students are nine from Computer Science and Engineering, six from Information Technology, four from Electronics and Communication Engineering and one each from Electrical Engineering and Instrumentation and Control Engineering. While 12 students have been placed with Microsoft, eight with Google and one with CRED. All have been recruited as software engineers.
Rajpreet Singh, a student of Electronics and Communication Engineering from Kapurthala who has been placed with Google, said, “Initially when we had joined the course, Covid had struck and the economies had become unstable. There had been so many layoffs. But thankfully by the time we completed the course, there have been good placements at our campus. The coding courses that I did came as a big boost in my career.” He is expected to join the multinational company soon, likely in Bengaluru.
The NIT faculty highlighted that despite a nationwide slowdown in campus hiring, the institute had achieved a significant placement milestone for its BTech 2021–25 batch, recording over 90 per cent placements. The highest salary package touched Rs 52 lakh per annum, with top global recruiters such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Citi Bank and Flipkart selecting students from the campus. Other leading companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda Motors, Nayara, L\/&T, BPCL, HPCL, BEL and EIL also actively participated in the placement process.
The average package across all branches stood at around Rs10 lakh per annum, reflecting the institute’s emphasis on skill development and robust industry collaboration. Over 190 students received multiple job offers, further underscoring the high demand for NIT Jalandhar graduates.
The Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Instrumentation and Control Engineering departments achieved more than 95 per cent placement rates, with an average package of about ?14 lakh per annum.
Remarkably, the Industrial and Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Textile Technology departments recorded 100 per cent placements. Departments like Information Technology and Chemical Engineering also fared well, with average packages ranging from Rs 8 to Rs 15 lakh per annum.
Prof B K Kanaujia, Director of the Institute, and Prof Ajay Bansal, Registrar, congratulated all the achievers and the Centre for Training and Placement (CTP) team for their dedicated efforts. The placements were coordinated by CTP members Dr Rajeev Trehan, Dr Ajay Gupta, Dr Om Prakash Verma and Dr Shefali Arora Chauhan, who focused on enhancing student readiness through structured training sessions, workshops and close industry interaction.
“It gives us a great sense of satisfaction as more than 200 top national and international companies came for the campus selection process even during periods of lower fresh manpower requirements,” they said.
