Mock Drill Alert: Home Ministry To Meet, Drills In 244 Districts To Test Emergency Response

A crucial meeting is scheduled to take place shortly at the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding a nationwide civil mock drill. This meeting will be led by the Home Secretary, who will brief state representatives on the planning and execution of the drill. Scheduled for tomorrow, the mock drill will be conducted across 244 districts in India. The exercise is designed to assess preparedness and response mechanisms during emergency situations, particularly aerial attacks. As part of the mock drill, sirens will be used to simulate air raid warnings, and coordination with the Air Force through hotline radio communication will be tested. The effectiveness of control rooms and shadow control rooms will be examined, and citizens will be trained on self-protection methods during attacks. Practice drills will include blackout simulations during air raids, evacuation of sensitive locations and factories, and swift relocation of civilians to safe zones. In regions like Dal Lake, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has deployed multiple teams equipped with high-speed boats, rubber dinghies, and handheld megaphones to conduct rescue operations. This is particularly important in areas that are not easily accessible by road. The overall goal of this exercise is to strengthen India’s civil defence infrastructure and ensure rapid response in case of any large-scale emergency.
