Youths Seen Singing, Dancing To Loud DJ Music In Kedarnath Dham Temple Premises, Case Registered After Video Goes Viral

A video from Kedarnath Dham in Uttarakhand is going viral on social media. The video shows a group of pilgrims dancing and singing to DJ music on the Kedarnath premises. After the video went viral, the police took action by registering a case and initiating an investigation.

People need to understand that Kedarnath Dham is not a club.
You can't play DJ music and do vulgar dances at such a sacred place.

The gates of Kedarnath Dham in Rudraprayag district were opened for devotees on May 2, while the gates of Badrinath Dham opened on May 4, and the gates of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams opened on April 30. According to reports, the viral video of dancing and singing in the Kedarnath temple premises was recorded before the gates of the Dham were opened.

After the video went viral, the Rudraprayag administration took cognizance of it, and a case was registered against those who violated the sanctity of the site. The action followed after BKTC in-charge officer Girish Devli filed a complaint at the Sonprayag Police Station.

The police are trying to identify the violators through social media platforms and have assured that action will be taken against the accused in accordance with the regulations.

"On the night of May 1, 2025, a case was registered under Section 298 of the BNS at Sonprayag Police Station against those who danced to DJ music in the Kedarnath temple premises before the gates were opened. Strict legal action is being taken against the accused after identifying them from the video," the Uttarakhand Police said in a statement.

Additionally, more police forces have been deployed along the Char Dham Yatra route by the police administration.

With the official commencement of the Char Dham Yatra, large numbers of pilgrims are arriving in Uttarakhand for darshan. Pilgrims, especially the younger generation, often make reels and upload them on social media platforms. The police have appealed to the general public not to promote or share the video, as it concerns the sanctity of Kedarnath Dham.

The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has taken a strict decision to maintain the sanctity of all four Dhams in Uttarakhand. Making reels within the temple premises of Badrinath and Kedarnath Dhams has been banned. Provisions have also been made to confiscate mobile phones and impose a fine of ₹5,000.
