State gears up for disaster preparedness
Taking proactive steps to strengthen disaster preparedness, the Haryana Government has sanctioned an advance amount of Rs 99 lakh for immediate relief and response efforts in all districts.
The Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Dr Sumita Misra, said the financial provision would enable district administrations to take swift action in the event of natural disruptions or any other disasters/calamities without waiting for additional approvals.
She said each Deputy Commissioner had been allocated an advance of Rs 4.50 lakh to facilitate prompt and effective measures, including Rs 25,000 for the provision of food and clothing to affected individuals, Rs 25,000 for temporary shelters, and Rs 25,000 for the supply of fodder to safeguard livestock in flood-hit areas.
Besides this, Rs 25,000 had been set aside to cover miscellaneous expenditures, such as transportation of relief materials and fuel costs. In addition, Rs 50,000 had been earmarked for the repair of damaged houses, and Rs 50,000 would be utilised for other relief measures. However, the largest portion, Rs 2.50 lakh per district, had been specifically allocated for dewatering operations in rural regions, where waterlogging posed a significant risk, she said.
