Israel Supports India's 'Right To Self-Defence', UAE Calls For Restraint After Operation Sindoor
India early Wednesday carried out missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir under 'Operation Sindoor,' in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed lives of 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir.
Following the strikes today, Israel backed the operation, saying that it "supports India's right to self-defence," stressing that terrorists should be aware that there is "no place to hide from their heinous crimes against the innocent."
Meanwhile, UAE Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, called on India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation, a statement issued by UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Wednesday noted.
As per UAE MOFA, the UAE Foreign Minister gave a call to India and Pakistan to "exercise restraint, de-escalate tensions, and avoid further escalation that could threaten regional and international peace".
He urged dialogue and mutual understanding between the two nations in order to prevent military escalation, strengthen stability in South Asia, and avoid further regional tensions.
The strikes further escalated tensions between the two nations, which intensified after the Pahalgam attack on April 22.
The Ministry of Defence issued a statement after the strikes, saying that the actions by the Indian armed forces have been "focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature and that no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted."
"A little while ago, the Indian armed forces launched 'Operation Sindoor' hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed," the defence ministry said in a statement at 1:44 AM today.
"India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution," it said.
As per a report by news agency PTI, the strikes on all nine targets, including Bahawalpur and Muridke, were successful and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was monitoring the operation closely.
While Muridke is believed to be a home to base of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Bahawalpur is the main stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
