Virat Kohli's reign as the Orange Cap holder has come to an end. In a high-stakes match against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, Gujarat Titans' star batter and captain Shubman Gill claimed the top spot with a quickfire 43 runs off 46 balls.
With this knock, Gill overtook both Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav in the race for the most runs this season.

The race for the Orange Cap in IPL 2025 has intensified. Shubman Gill has surged to the top of the leaderboard with 518 runs, narrowly edging past Mumbai Indians' star Suryakumar Yadav, who follows closely with 510 runs. Gujarat Titans' Sai Sudharsan is right behind in third with 509 runs. Meanwhile, former frontrunner Virat Kohli has dropped to the fourth spot with 505 runs to his name.

Historic achievement for Suryakumar
Suryakumar Yadav has made history by becoming the first-ever Mumbai Indians player to score over 500 runs in three different IPL seasons (2018, 2023, and now 2025).
He breaks the previous record held by Sachin Tendulkar, who crossed the 500-run mark in two seasons (2010 and 2011). Notably, Suryakumar has scored 25 or more runs in all 12 matches this season.

Prasidh Krishna still wearing the Purple Cap
On the bowling front, Prasidh Krishna has retained the Purple Cap. He added one more wicket to his tally against Mumbai Indians, taking his total to 20 wickets in the tournament. Josh Hazlewood remains a close second with 18 wickets, keeping the race for the Purple Cap alive.
