Operation Sindoor: How India destroyed terror camps in Pakistan and PoK with precision as response to brutal Pahalgam attack
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stayed up through the night on Tuesday, personally monitoring “Operation Sindoor”, a powerful response to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack that took 26 innocent lives on April 22. Just two weeks after that tragedy, India struck back hard, targeting nine terror hubs deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). According to media reports, this operation marked a major shift from earlier strikes like Balakot in 2019 and Uri in 2016. While those focused mainly on temporary camps, this time, India aimed straight at the main headquarters of banned terror groups: the Jaish-e-Mohammad base in Bahawalpur and the Lashkar-e-Taiba hub in Muridke.
A well-planned operation
The mission was carefully prepared over two weeks, with the Army, Air Force, and Navy working together using advanced precision-guided weapons. All strikes were launched from Indian territory, minimizing risk to personnel while maximizing impact. Key locations hit included Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Sarjal, Gulpur, and a site near Sialkot, apart from Muridke and Bahawalpur.
Various report reveal that Pakistan was caught completely off guard. Its military had believed India was preparing for a routine security drill, which had been announced earlier for May 7. Instead, India launched the real strike late on May 6, using the element of surprise to its advantage. By the time Pakistan realized what had happened, the damage was already done.
Special precision munitions were used by India to target the terror camps from Indian soil – with the Army, Air Force, and Navy all part of the operation, which was planned over the last fortnight.
Sources told news18.com that this was a “strike on terror” and that Pakistan was spreading misinformation that innocent civilians had been targeted.
PM’s quiet command
Even on the day before the strike, PM Modi carried on with his public engagements, including meetings and a media appearance — giving no hint of the high-level military mission underway. Behind the scenes, however, he had already met individually with the heads of the Army, Navy, and Air Force in the previous week, giving them full freedom to choose the best time, targets, and method of retaliation.
Targeting terror and not civilians
Indian officials strongly denied Pakistan’s claims that civilians were harmed, insisting the operation was focused only on terror infrastructure. “This was a clean, calculated strike on those who planned and supported attacks on Indian soil,” a senior official said. “It sends a strong message that India will not sit back while terrorism is nurtured across the border.”
