The Indian armed forces carried out missile attacks on nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the early hours of Wednesday. These include Jaish-e-Mohammed’s stronghold Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base Muridke.

The Indian Army, in a strong retaliation two weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack, carried out missile attacks on nine terrorist bases in Pakistan late on Tuesday (May 6). The Defense Ministry said in a statement at 1.44 am on Tuesday night that the military strikes were carried out under ‘Operation Sindoor’. The statement said that the action of the Indian armed forces was focused and measured. At the same time, care has been taken that it does not escalate further.

The bases targeted in the precise operation of the Indian Air Force include Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, Sarjal in Tehra Kalan, Markaz Abbas in Kotli and Syedna Bilal Camp in Muzaffarabad. All these bases are associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed. The Lashkar-e-Taiba bases targeted in this operation include Markaz Taiba in Muridke, Markaz Ahle-Hadith in Barnala and Shawwai Nala Camp in Muzaffarabad.

Mecca Raheel Shahid in Kotli and Mehmoona Zoya in Sialkot were targeted. These bases house Hizbul Mujahideen camps and training centres. Of the nine targets chosen by India, four are in Pakistan and the remaining five are in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Sources said that the Pakistani army and the country’s intelligence agency ISI were using these camps for training terrorists as well as logistics through its Special Services Group (SSG).

The IAF operation was carried out under “Operation Sindoor” two weeks after the massacre of 26 people by terrorists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The Defence Ministry said in a statement at 1:44 am on Tuesday and Wednesday that the action of the Indian armed forces was measured and no Pakistani military installation was targeted.
