FACT CHECK: Did Pakistan destroy an Indian Air Force MiG-29?

The propaganda war by Pakistan against India and its security forces continues!
The misinformation campaign, aimed at creating panic and diminishing the morale of the security forces, has been particularly strong and vicious after India's military action, 'Operation Sindoor', targetting militant outfits in Pakistan.
The latest in this campaign—after claims of targetting Srinagar airbase and destroying Indian Brigade Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir—is the claim by certain pro-Pakistan social media handles that an Indian Air Force (IAF) twin-engine fighter aircraft MiG-29 has been brought down by Pakistan.
PIB Fact Check clarified that the visuals being circulated were from an accident involving MiG-29 that happened a year ago.

In 2024, during a routine night training mission in Barmer sector, IAF MiG-29 encountered a critical technical snag. Following this, the pilot was ejected and no loss of life or property was reported.
There were also reports from Pakistan claiming that Pakistan launched missiles against 15 locations in India.
There was another claim by a major Pakistan national television channel that India "hoisted White Flag to accept defeat". Samaa TV claimed that the white flag was hoisted at the Chora Complex along the Line of Control without providing any evidence or further information about the "surrender."
Nine militant outfits of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen located in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir were targeted under 'Operation Sindoor' by India, in retaliation for the killing of 26 tourists in Pahalgam.
India clarified that no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted in the "focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature" security action carried out by the country's security forces.
