PM Modi lauds armed forces for non-escalatory strikes against terror infra in Pakistan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lauded the Indian Armed Forces for executing non-escalatory and non-military strikes against terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
After the Prime Minister shared details of Operation Sindoor with the Union Cabinet—meeting for the first time since the strike—the Cabinet hailed his leadership.
PM Modi had earlier granted the Armed Forces full operational freedom to determine the targets, mode, and timing of the national military response following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
The PM is also expected to brief President Droupadi Murmu, the supreme commander of the Armed Forces, on the operation today.
Meanwhile, the government will convene an all-party meeting on the issue on Thursday.
Prior to the full Cabinet meeting, PM Modi chaired a session of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) — the third such meeting since the April 22 terror attack in Kashmir.
This is the first meeting of the Union Cabinet and the Cabinet Committee on Security following India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terror training facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri described the operation as “proportionate, non-military, and non-escalatory,” stating that it was deemed necessary in the aftermath of the savage and barbaric attack on Indian tourists in Pahalgam.

According to Misri, the attackers shot the victims in the forehead in front of their families and told them to “go and tell Modi.”
The CCS was briefed on the details of the operation, its outcomes, and the anticipated response from Pakistan.
The Indian military is also expected to brief PM Modi on contingency plans, including how it intends to climb the escalatory ladder if Pakistan chooses to retaliate.
Later in the day, civil defence mock drills are scheduled to be conducted across 244 districts as part of national preparedness measures.
With the India–Pakistan situation still unfolding, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar took to X, stating that the world must show zero tolerance for terrorism.

India have briefed the United States on the strikes, after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that he was closely monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan.
“I echo @POTUS’s comments earlier today that this hopefully ends quickly and will continue to engage both Indian and Pakistani leadership towards a peaceful resolution,” said Rubio who spoke to Pakistan NSA and ISI Chief Lt Gen Asim Malik.
