Leader of Britain's far-right political party 'Britain First' has warned of "chaos on the streets of Britain" after India struck Pakistan's terror sites in the early hours of Wednesday.
Golding, known for his anti-Pakistan stance, received some backlash for his post, with some asking "what Britain had to do with India striking Pakistan" but he followed it up with a series of hilarious tweets on 'Operation Sindoor', one even featuring Indianised version of rapper 50 cents.
He also posted videos from Pakistan, captioning it: "India blitzing the barbarian state of Pakistan."
The UK boasts of a huge British Pakistani population, which includes individuals of Pakistani descent born in the UK and those born in Pakistan who immigrated to the UK. It is estimated that the sub-group constitutes about 1.8 million of the population, making it the second-largest Pakistani population outside of Pakistan. Britain is home to 1.9 million Indians.
Protests and clashes have erupted between the Indian and Pakistani diaspora communities in London, including recently after the Pahalgam attack. The Pakistan High Commission in London was vandalised by pro-Indian protestors after the protest over the Pahalgam terror attack turned violent.
In 2022, Leicester witnessed riots with Hindu and Muslim groups clashing following an India-Pakistan cricket match. In 2019, nerves were frayed after the Modi government moved ahead with the abrogation of Article 370, which saw the complete integration of Kashmir into India. So, many worry that a conflict between the countries could reflect on the streets of Leicester, London, and Birmingham.
