PNB Q4 Results: Bank Posts 52% Jump In Profit To Rs 4,567 Crore; Details Here
State-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) reported a sharp rise in profitability for the quarter ended March 2025, with net profit climbing 52 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 4,567 crore, up from Rs 3,010 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal. The strong performance was driven by higher interest income, steady operational growth, and significant improvement in asset quality.
The bank's total income for Q4FY25 rose 13.4 per cent YoY to Rs 36,705 crore, supported by solid growth in both core lending and fee-based income. Net Interest Income (NII), a key indicator of a bank’s earnings from lending, increased by 4 per cent YoY to Rs 10,757 crore, reflecting healthy loan disbursements and better yields. Non-interest income, which includes fees, commissions, and treasury gains, also rose 11 per cent YoY to Rs 4,716 crore.
PNB’s operating profit for the quarter stood at Rs 6,776 crore, registering a 6 per cent increase from the same period last year. Operating expenses were contained, rising only 6.1 per cent to Rs 8,697 crore, indicating strong cost discipline.

Asset Quantity
A notable highlight of the quarter was the sharp improvement in asset quality. The bank's Gross Non-Performing Assets (GNPA) ratio declined to 3.95 per cent as of March 2025, down from 5.73 per cent a year earlier. Similarly, Net NPA dropped to 0.4 per cent, compared to 0.73 per cent in the previous year. The Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR), including technical write-offs, rose to 96.82 per cent, reflecting improved risk management and provisioning standards.
For the full financial year FY25, PNB reported a net profit of Rs 16,630 crore, more than doubling its previous year’s earnings with a 102 per cent YoY growth. Total deposits grew 14.38 per cent YoY to Rs 15.67 lakh crore, while global advances increased by 13.56 per cent to Rs 11.17 lakh crore, signaling strong overall business expansion.
On Wednesday, shares of PNB edged up 0.22 per cent, closing at Rs 94.68 on the National Stock Exchange.
