Uri, Balakot And Now Operation Sindoor: How India Carried 3 Strikes Against Pakistan In Last 9 Years

The Indian armed forces early Wednesday carried out a series of precision strikes targeting training camps, launch pads and headquarters of the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba without breaching Pakistan’s airspace.

The strike - codenamed Operation Sindoor - targeted 9 sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including Sarjal camp in Sialkot, Mehmoona Joya and Markaz Taiba, Muridke, and Markaz Subhanallah in Bahawalpur.

The retaliatory action comes two weeks after the killing of 26 people, mostly tourists, in the Pahalgam town of Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.

The latest strike is one of the three strikes that India carried out against terror outfits in Pakistan following terrorists attacks in the country.

May 20205- Operation Sindoor

On the intervening night of May 6 and 7, the Indian armed forces attacked nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, killing around 70 terrorists. The precision strikes began at 1:05 am and went on till 1.30 am, during which India attacked using 24 missiles that struck nine terror camps.

February 2019- Surgical Strike II

India carried out a surgical strike in Balakot, Pakistan on February 26, 2019 days after the Pulwama attack during which over 40 military personnel were killed. 

During the Balakot strike, the Indian Air Force fighters bombed the Jaish-e-Mohammad’s "biggest" terror-training camp in Pakistan's Balakot. The entire operation lasted less than 20 minutes and targetted was six buildings in the Jaish terror base.

The Balakot strike comes days after 40 CRPF personnel were killed after the convoy in which they were travelling was attacked by a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) suicide bomber on February 14, 2019 near Awantipora on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

2016 Uri Surgical Strike

India carried out a surgical strike across the LoC after the Uri attacks in September 2016.

The surgical strike was carried out on the intervening night of September 28 and 29, when Indian commandos crossed the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and destroyed multiple terror launchpads. 

The attack came after the attack on Uri Army camp on September 18, 2016, when 19 Indian Army personnel were killed in the terror attack.
