From CSMT To Cross Maidan: Mock Drills Conducted At Various Locations In Mumbai (Videos)
As part of a nationwide preparedness initiative, mock drills are being conducted at various locations in Mumbai. The Railways carried out a Civil Defence mock drill at the historic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) station to enhance emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
Another mock drill was conducted at Cross Maidan in Mumbai by the Civil Defence team.
Central Railway CPRO Dr Swapnil Nila told news agency ANI, "Civil Defence unit of the Central Railways carried out a mock drill at the CSMT. Through the mock drill, Central Railways has demonstrated its alertness to deal with any kind of situation and tried to alert the common man through the drills."
These mock drills, being coordinated under the directive of the Union Home Ministry, aim to create awareness among the general public about how to respond in emergency situations such as air raids, blackouts, and wartime scenarios, amid growing tensions with Pakistan.
According to reports, the Maharashtra Government, in collaboration with the Indian Army and Mumbai Police, is conducting these drills across key locations in the city.
The city will conduct emergency drills from 4:00 to 4:30 PM, beginning with a two-minute air raid siren. Residents are advised to follow safety measures, including taking shelter, shutting off gas and electrical devices, and remaining indoors.
This comprehensive exercise involves coordination among 12 emergency service agencies, including police, firefighters, medical teams, and city officials. Blackout simulations will also test Mumbai's ability to respond to potential aerial attack warnings.
