Pune Crime: Drunk Latur Man Bludgeons Male Friend To Death Over Rejected Sexual Advances
Pune Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for murdering his male friend for rejecting his sexual advances, officials said on Tuesday. The incident took place on May 5 near Maldhakka Chowk, they added.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Bheem Gaikwad (40, a resident of Latur), while the deceased is Kishor Kamble (35, a native of Satara).
"Kamble was found dead at the roadside near Maldhakka Chowk on May 5. In the medical report, it was found that Kamble was assaulted with a heavy stone on his head and died due to severe blood loss. Later, police detained Gaikwad after watching the CCTV footage. He was arrested within the Samarth Police Station jurisdiction. During interrogation, it came to light that Gaikwad murdered him for opposing the sexual relationship," the police said.
Umesh Gitte, Senior Police Inspector, Samarth Police Station, told The Free Press Journal, "Kamble and Gaikwad were in Pune for the last 2–3 years. They were surviving on daily wages or begging. Both were in contact and known to each other. At the time of the incident, they both were drunk. Over the demand for sexual favours, an argument occurred between them, which later became the cause of Kamble's death. They have no home in Pune and were living on a footpath. The accused has been arrested. Further investigation is underway."
