Meet actor who once ruled television, fell into scandal, and disappeared… he is now..,his name is…
In the world of showbiz, success changes every day. While one day an actor could be glowing and gleaming with love and attention from the audience, the next day other he would become so irrelevant that his existence would vanish in thin air from the scene. One such actor whose life has been the victim of this seesaw is Aman Verma. Among the most popular faces in Indian television, Aman had a strong screen presence and delivered back-to-back hit shows and movies, which soon made him a household name and fan favourite.
However, like they say, fame is a double-edged sword. Aman’s life took a turn of even with just an event. Aman began his acting journey close to three decades ago with the TV show Lal Deewarein. He went on to create a presence in mythological series such as Mahabharat Katha. His charisma and talent soon launched him to movie leads. In 1999, he made his debut in Bollywood with the film Sangharsh, playing a supporting character alongside Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta. Although it wasn’t a leading role, Aman’s presence couldn’t be overlooked.
He turned into a household name in the early 2000s not only by way of serials such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Shanti, Kalash, and Ghar Ek Mandir, but also with his work as the anchor of the popular game show Khullja Sim Sim (2001–2004). He also acted in blockbuster films such as Baghban, Andaaz, Baabul, and Wah! Life Ho Toh Aisi, with which he met with praise from critics and audiences alike.
But the year 2005 was the time when things turned around for him. Aman Verma was involved in a casting couch scandal, where a video emerged purportedly showing him requesting sexual favors from a model. This caused a huge setback to his career. Work assignments stopped, and he was slowly marginalized to the periphery of the film and television industry. He thereafter, confessed in interviews that his pride and lack of emotional control caused him to make several impulsive choices, such as storming off sets over trivial disputes.
He even openly admitted that the fame went to his head. While in Bigg Boss 9, Aman talked about how he made mistakes while under the influence of fame and did not have someone to mentor him at that pivotal moment. He revealed that if someone had guided him on the right path, his career could have turned out differently.
Despite the failure, Aman Verma tried a low-key comeback. After doing the 2019 movie Chicken Curry Law, he made a comeback to acting with the 2022 web show Ruhaniyat. But the opportunities have been irregular, with mostly small roles or one-off projects.
Now, Aman Verma is attempting to rekindle what was once a thriving career. His journey shows that even success attends to those who treat it with humility.
