Civil Defense Mock Drill: Citizens Trapped In Building Were Evacuated Safely During Mock Air Attack In Gwalior
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): Gwalior administration tested its preparedness by conducting mock drills in different areas throughout the day. A mock drill was conducted in Sirol area of Gwalior today to counter the situation of evacuating citizens trapped in a multi-storey building during an air attack.
Gwalior is a sensitive area during war due to the presence of Air Force base centre here. The district administration, police, fire brigade, ex-army personnel, health department staff as well as volunteers of social organizations, NCC and scouts participated in the drill.
Gwalior is sensitive in terms of security
Gwalior is the base station of the Air Force. During Balakot air strike, Mirage-Sukhoi took off from here. It is the cantonment area of the army. There is BSF Academy, Tekanpur Stadium. Labs of DRDO & DRDE. There is a CRPF camp and the head quarter of NCC is also present here.
Today in morning, a tanker full of ammonia gas hit a school bus outside ITI College located near Birla Nagar ROB in Gwalior and gas started leaking. The army, BSF, police, home guard and health department teams promptly stopped the gas leak and started treating the injured. It took barely 40 minutes. This was part of the mock drill.
Green corridor created immediately
According to information the Union Home Ministry has instructed all the states to conduct mock drills on Wednesday. Chemical industrial accident and civil defense mock drill was conducted in Gwalior.
In which the army, police and health department teams started rescue work as soon as the tanker full of ammonia gas hit the school bus. A green corridor was immediately created.
The teams of SDRF, NDRF, Home Guard, Administration, Police, Health Department freed the area from ammonia gas in a 40-minute operation and took the children to the hospital. Where the health department team started treatment
