'M.K. Stalin: The Modern Dravidian Icon', the coffee table book that marks 50 years of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s life in public service was released by Chief Associate Editor and Director of The Week, Riyad Mathew in Chennai on May 7, as the DMK celebrated four years of being in power since 2021.

The book was released in the presence of Stalin and Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. The first copy of the book was received by state finance minister Thangam Thennarasu. The anthology comprises essays written by fellow politicians, Stalin’s teachers, friends and members of his family.

The coffee table book covers Stalin's journey from a young schoolboy who plunged into politics after being inspired by his father M. Karunanidhi to being Tamil Nadu’s first deputy chief minister and the eighth chief minister of the state. His imprisonment during the Emergency, first win from Thousand Lights constituency in 1989 and stint as the 45th mayor of Chennai are all chronicled in the book.
