T20 Mumbai League Auction: Atharva Ankolekar Emerges Top Buy
Atharva Ankolekar emerged as the top buy for Eagle Thane Strikers in the T20 Mumbai League 2025 Auction.
The 24-year-old was bought by the Thane Strikers for Rs 16.25 lakh.
The young stars of Mumbai cricket were ruling the roost with Musheer Khan going for Rs 15 lakh to ARCS Andheri while Sairaj Patil was snapped up by Eagle Thane Strikers for the same amount.
The brightest young star on the Mumbai cricketing horizon Ayush Mhatre who has been making waves in the Indian Premier League (IPL) went for Rs 14.75 lakh to Triumph Nights Mumbai North East.
The 17-year-old has been in cracking form in with a best score of 94 in the season so far.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Shams Mulani were picked uy by Sobo Mumbai Falcons and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs for Rs 14 lakh each.
Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Ajinkya Naik was elated with the proceedings of the day and felt the star power for the league was a big advantage.
'Suryakumar Yadav was present today and even Sarfaraz Khan was there, all India players are playing in the league and all IPL players selected till now are available. Overall the auction has gone well till now.'
The MCA President also added that the presence of senior India players like Suryakumar Yadav at the auction will act as a boost to young players aspiring to shine in the league.
"It will definitely make the youngsters happy having some of our senior players like Surya at the auction.'
Referring to the pricing of the players and their abilities, Naik felt it was ultimately upto the young players selected to perform.
'Cost is secondary, performance is primary. The players have to make it count,'' he added.
India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who was present at the auction, was happy with the franchises picking young stars Ayush Mhatre and Angkrish Raghuvanshi.
'Both are promising cricketers, crazy talents and good boys.
'It's great to see young boys doing well in franchise cricket and dominating, ' he added.
