Briefly: Banks tighten security to ward off cyber threat

Banks have tightened their cyber security network to ward off any threat in the wake of the India’s strikes on Pakistan. Banks have also improved their security at branches near border areas due to heightened threat of a counter attack. “We have strengthened the cyber security mechanism… we have created a 24-hours war room to defuse any cyber attack. We are prepared for any eventuality,” PNB MD and CEO Ashok Chandra said. The bank has also beefed up security at the branches in the border areas, he said. A senior official of another public sector bank said they had put in place an anti-cyber attack mechanism. PTI

Pak asks China to replace faulty tank parts

New Delhi: Amid ongoing military escalation with India, Pakistan has written to China, complaining about faulty parts and assemblies in tanks supplied by a state owned firm based in Beijing. The Heavy Industries Taxila, Pakistan’s defence manufacturing facility, which received the faulty party from Norinco, a Chinese defence manufacturer, has formally communicated its concerns to the company in a letter. The communication between the two companies has been shared by Indian agencies with the Centre. The Pakistan side has flagged the issue as urgent, stressing that the replacement of the parts and assemblies is needed on an urgent basis. These tanks were imported by Pakistan from China and were supplied in a knocked down condition, intended for assembling at the Pakistan facility in Taxila. TNS

SC judge Kant, ex-CJI Ramana laud strike

New Delhi: Supreme Court judge Justice Surya Kant and former Chief Justice of India NV Ramana on Wednesday lauded armed forces for their exceptional bravery in carrying out Operation Sindoor. “As a citizen of the country we should be proud of our forces who went beyond the borders and dismantled the anti-national activities that were going on,” Justice Kant said. Former CJI Ramana said the strikes sent a strong message to the terrorists and their enablers. PTI

Terrorists’ morale weakened: Muslim clerics

Lucknow: Prominent Muslim clerics in Uttar Pradesh commended the armed forces for the precision strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, terming it a fitting response to the Pahalgam massacre. They said the action would demoralise terrorist outfits and bring some solace to the victims’ families. The Islamic Centre of India also organised a celebration where children waved the national flag. PTI
