Pak X Users Claim Drone Attack Near Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium Hours Before Peshawar Zalmi Vs Karachi Kings PSL 2025 Match

Amid tensions between India and Pakistan, a drone reportedly crashed near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, injuring two civilians. According to Samaa TV report, police sources said that the drone was suspected to be operated for surveillance purposes.

As per the report, the crash caused partial damage to a nearby restaurant building adjacent to the stadium. Authorities have cordoned off the area, and investigations are ongoing to determine the origin of the drone and its payload. The victims, who were in the vicinity, were taken to a local hospital for treatment."

Rawalpindi cricket stadium was all set to host the Peshawar Zalmi Vs Karachi Kings PSL 2025 match on Thursday, May 8 at 8pm.

England players divided over leaving PSL 2025

Earlier report emerged that England’s contingent in the PSL divided on whether to stay in the country or return home. According to a report by The Telegraph, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) held an emergency meeting to assess the situation and review player safety.

The report further states that most England cricketers have decided to remain in Pakistan, trusting the current security arrangements. However, a few players are exploring options to return to the UK.

Pakistan cities under attack

A series of explosions reportedly took place in the Pakistani cities of Lahore and Karachi on Thursday. According to reports, three blasts occurred in Lahore, a city in Pakistan's Punjab province, this morning, sparking panic among locals, who fled their homes fearing for their lives.

In Karachi, residents reportedly heard the sound of an explosion near Sharafi Goth in Malir. Chaos erupted in Lahore as residents fled following three consecutive explosions on Walton Road. Clouds of smoke filled the city’s skyline as panic spread through the streets. Commercial flights have been suspended at both Lahore and Sialkot airports until noon on Thursday amid escalating border tensions.

India destroys Air Defence System in Lahore

In a press statement on Thursday afternoon, the Defence Ministry of India: "This morning, the Indian Armed Forces targeted Air Defence Radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan. Indian response has been in the same domain with same intensity as Pakistan. It has been reliably learnt that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised."
