Schools, Colleges To Remain Shut In Parts Of J&K Amid Rising Border Tensions

JAMMU, May 8: In light of the escalating situation along the Indo-Pak border, authorities have announced the closure of educational institutions in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir on May 9 and 10 as a precautionary step.
According to an official communication from the Director of School Education Kashmir, all government and private schools in Baramulla, Kupwara, Gurez Sub-Division, and areas near Srinagar and Awantipora Airports will remain shut for two days. The move has been taken to ensure public safety amid prevailing uncertainty.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, through a public post on X, declared the closure of all schools, colleges, and other educational institutions—both government and private—in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch districts for May 9.
Officials have urged the public to stay alert and cooperate with the administration during this period of heightened tension.
