Jabalpur Court Dismisses Defamation Case Against Actress & BJP MP Kangana Ranaut

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Bollywood actress and BJP Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has received major relief from the Jabalpur MP/MLA court on Thursday.

A case filed against her over her controversial remark on India’s freedom was dismissed.

The complaint was filed in 2021 by Jabalpur-based lawyer Amit Kumar Sahu. He had objected to Kangana’s statement in which she said that India’s independence was an ‘alm.’

The lawyer claimed her comment insulted the freedom fighters and martyrs of India and could disturb national peace and provoke rebellion.

Sahu demanded that an FIR be registered against Kangana for her remarks.

However, Special Judicial Magistrate D.P. Sutrakar rejected the complaint. The court stated that, “Every person has the right to decide when they feel truly free. If someone feels they were not free even after 1947, it is their personal opinion. Personal opinions are not defamation unless they violate someone else’s rights."

Following the court’s decision, advocate Sahu has decided to appeal the dismissal in a higher court. He said, "I will file an appeal against the court’s order."

Hailed Operation Sindoor

Recently, the actress hailed the Indian Armed Forces for the success of ‘Operation Sindoor.’

While speaking to the media in Delhi,Kangana said, "The country is at war right now, so obviously, we are all very nervous. But our security forces are protecting us, and we all must pray that may God protect them and help them succeed in their missions. We should all pray that the country be safe from all kinds of dangers."
