Did India target a dam in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir during 'Operation Sindoor'? Vikram Misri reacts to 'blatant lies'

India on Wednesday refuted having targeted a dam near the Neelum-Jhelum project in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) while carrying out 'Operation Sindoor'. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri called the allegation made by Islamabad in this regard a "blatant lie." While briefing the media alongside Colonel Sofia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, Misri also warned that if such lies are being made by Pakistan as a pretext to target Indian infrastructure, there will be consequences.

'Operation Sindoor' was carried out by the Indian armed forces on Wednesday categorically targeting terrorist infrastructure in Sawai Nalla, Sarjal, Muridke, Kotli, Kotli Gulpur, Mehmoona Joya, Bhimber and Bahawalpur. "India has targeted only and only terrorist infrastructure, and the details of that infrastructure, along with the precise locations, were shared yesterday," Misri said while adding that it was "an absolute and complete fabrication" to say Indian missiles having targeted the dam.
He added that there would be consequences if these lies were going to be used as an excuse for further escalation by Pakistan. "If this kind of a claim is a pretext of targeting Indian infrastructure of similar nature, then Pakistan will be solely responsible for the consequences that will undoubtedly follow."

In retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian armed forces early Wednesday carried out missile strikes on terror targets including Bahawalpur, a stronghold of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror group.
The Foreign Secretary also ruled out that Pakistani civilians lost their lives after India launched projectiles into the nine locations in PoK and mainland Pakistan. "As far as we are concerned, the individuals eliminated at these facilities were terrorists. Giving terrorists state funerals may be a practice in Pakistan, but it doesn’t seem to make much sense to us," he said.

He reiterated that India's intention is not to escalate matters and that its security forces were responding to the original escalation that happened on April 22.
