India-Pakistan war: Jammu under attack! Blasts heard, sirens blare, citywide blackout, S-400 shoots down Pakistani missiles, drones

India-Pakistan war: A citywide blackout was ordered in Jammu after multiple blasts were heard in the city on late Thursday night. According to reports, sirens went off across the city after blasts were heard at multiple places, leading to a blackout.

“Complete blackout in Jammu. Loud explosions—bombing, shelling, or missile strikes suspected. Fret not—Mata Vaishno Devi is with us, and so are the valiant Indian Armed Forces,” former Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief, Shesh Paul Vaid, posted on X.

As per reports, India’s Russian-made S-400 air defense system neutralized as many as eight missiles fired towards Jammu by Pakistan. Earlier, a series of explosions were heard in multiple places across Jammu city on Thursday night, after which a blackout was enforced.

As per a PTI report, security forces on Thursday evening detected Pakistani drones near the heavily-guarded Jammu airport, which also houses an Indian Air Force (IAF) station. Soon, electricity was snapped across the city after two powerful explosions were heard in the vicinity of the airport, the report said.

Officials said counter-measures have been initiated and a few Pakistani drones were downed by the Indian anti-drone system, the PTI report added.

According to some eyewitness, one of the drones was seen dropping outsides the airport. Reports suggest the attack took place at around 8:45 PM with mobile phone videos shot by locals showing bright lights streaking across the night sky as India’s air defense systems intercepted the incoming projectiles.

Mobile Internet services have been affected in region after the attacks, reports said.

The attack was still underway when last reports came in.
