Eco Sensitive Zone To Come Up In Panna Tiger Reserve
Sagar (Madhya Pradesh): A meeting of the monitoring committee was held to discuss the proposed eco-sensitive zone in Panna Tiger Reserve and Gangau reserve forest.
Commissioner Virendra Singh Rawat presided over the meeting held in the Karnawati auditorium in Mandla on Wednesday. The Ministry of Forests, Environment and Climate Change issued an order on June 5 last y ear over the proposed eco-sensitive zone.
The government also formed a committee to deal with the issue. The commissioner is the chairman of the committee. The other members of the committee are collectors Suresh Kumar, Parth Jaiswal, regional director of Panna Tiger Reserve Anjana Suchita Tirki, and other officials were present at the meeting.
The meeting discussed the measures to be taken for the eco-sensitive zone (ESZ). Work should be done for the zone according to the plans, Rawat said. Sixty-seven villages of Panna, Chhattarpur and Damoh have been included in the zone.
Meeting also discussed preparation of a master plan on the basis of Tehsil-wise map by next year. The issues like land use area in the proposed eco-sensitive zone also figured in the meeting.
During this period, necessary discussions were also held through the monitoring committee regarding resolution of various issues and land use area in the proposed zone.
The meeting also discussed what should be done to deal with eco-sensitive zone. Several activities will be launched for the eco-sensitive zone. It will be necessary to follow the rules to check air and noise pollution.
There should also be a ban on commercial mining and setting up new industries. All eco-friendly activities will be encouraged in the eco-sensitive zone. Regional director of the national park will organise public awareness campaigns.
