Amid the escalating hostilities between India and Pakistan, social media have been abuzz with claims that Pakistan Army Chief Gen Asim Munir has been arrested.
The Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which was the immediate reason for the increased hostilities between India and Pakistan, has been directly linked to the provocative statements made by General Asim Munir, who had called Kashmir his country's “jugular vein.”
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had connected Gen Munir’s communal remarks to the timing and nature of the Pahalgam attack, suggesting that his rhetoric may have served as a catalyst or dog whistle for militant action.

As the tensions escalated between the two neighbours, he "emphasised that Pakistan seeks peace in the region and beyond, however, if Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity is violated, Pakistan will respond with full force to preserve its national prestige and wellbeing of its people."
Now, social media is replete with claims that said Gen Asim Munir has been arrested.
Some also claimed that there was a revolt in the Pakistan Army.
THE WEEK hasn't been able to independently verify these claims.
There were also some tweets that claimed that General Shahir Shamshad Mirza would take over the Pakistan Army.
