Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday night spoke to chiefs of the country's border guarding forces, including the BSF that guards India's border with Pakistan.
According to media reports, the home minister took stock of the situation along the international borders in the wake of the heightened tension between India and Pakistan following India's strike on multiple locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday and Pakistan's attempts to strike Indian military sites on Thursday.
The attempts were foiled by the Indian security forces.
The directors general of the border guarding forces briefed the home minister about the prevailing situation and the steps taken to beef up security, sources told news agency PTI.

While the BSF guards the India-Pakistan and India-Bangladesh borders, the ITBP guards India's border with China and the SSB guards the border with Nepal and Bhutan.
Shah also spoke to the chief of the CISF, who guards most of the airports in the country, metro networks and other vital installations, and took stock of the security at airports in the country.
Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had said nothing will stand in India's way to protect the country's sovereignty and the nation is fully prepared for such responses.
The defence minister said India has always played the role of a responsible nation exercising great restraint and it believes in resolving issues through dialogue.
"However, if anyone tries to take advantage of this restraint, they will face quality action," he said, assuring the nation that no limit will become an obstacle to protecting India's sovereignty.
