National Alert: Rajnath Singh Chairs High-Level Meet As Punjab Ministers Head To Border Areas

In the wake of rising cross-border tensions with Pakistan, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a high-level security meeting at South Block on Thursday morning. The meeting, which included CDS General Anil Chauhan, the three service chiefs, and the DGMO, reviewed the recent infiltration attempt and drone incursions along the border. The Centre has conveyed a firm stance—Pakistan’s provocations will not be tolerated and Indian forces will respond at their discretion. Sources say the defence establishment was briefed on the swarm of drones launched from Pakistan on Wednesday night and India’s swift countermeasures.Simultaneously, the Punjab government has stepped up its preparedness. Following a cabinet meeting in Chandigarh, ten cabinet ministers have been dispatched to sensitive border districts—Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, and Fazilka. These areas, with villages close to the international border, are under heightened surveillance. The ministers will assess ground readiness and coordinate with local administrations to ensure civilian safety. The twin actions—Delhi’s military coordination and Punjab’s administrative mobilisation—signal India’s multi-tiered response strategy. With both political and defence leadership on high alert, India is reinforcing its message of zero tolerance toward cross-border aggression.
