Madhya Pradesh May 9 Weather Update: Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Until May 12; Rain Alert In Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain & More
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh will see stormy weather for the next four days, until May 12.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhopal, strong winds, rain, and thunderstorms are expected across the entire state on some of these days.
Weather Forecast (May 9–12):
May 9: Thunderstorms, strong winds, and rain likely in all districts, especially in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Rewa, Shahdol, Gwalior, Chambal, Jabalpur, and Sagar regions. Wind speeds may reach 40–50 km/h.
May 10: Bad weather expected in Bhopal, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Guna, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Dhar, Barwani, Indore, Khargone, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Harda, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Katni, Jabalpur, Seoni, Mandla, Dindori, and Balaghat.
May 11: Stormy rain may occur in Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Bhind, Shivpuri, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Sagar, Damoh, Katni, Sidhi, Singrauli, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Dewas, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Khargone, Barwani, Dhar, Ratlam, Jhabua, and Alirajpur.
May 12: Rain expected in all districts including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar, Rewa, Shahdol, and Jabalpur. Wind speeds may again reach 40–50 km/h.
On Friday, heavy winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour may hit cities like Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, and Gwalior. IMD has issued a weather alert for all districts in the state.
May is usually the hottest month in Madhya Pradesh, but this year started with unusual rain and cooler temperatures. Experts say both heatwaves and unseasonal rain are possible this month.
Weather Changed in 15 Districts on Thursday
On Thursday, changing weather was seen in 15 districts, including Indore, Gwalior, Betul, Narmadapuram, Chhindwara, Sheopur, Dhar, Ujjain, Barwani, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Morena, and Shivpuri. These areas witnessed rain, lightning, and strong winds. Bhopal had cloudy skies in the morning and sunshine in the evening. Heavy rain of around 1 inch was reported in Dhar. Light rain also occurred in Indore, Ujjain, Ratlam, Shivpuri, Mandla, and Seoni.
Due to the rain, daytime temperatures dropped in many cities. Bhopal recorded a temperature of 31.7°C, Indore 30.8°C, Gwalior 35.4°C, Ujjain 30.4°C, and Jabalpur 35.7°C. Pachmarhi, the only hill station, was the coolest at 30°C.
Why the Weather is Changing
Senior weather scientist Dr. Divya E. Surendran said the changing weather is due to a western disturbance, a trough, and a cyclonic circulation. These systems are likely to affect the state until May 12.
