FPJ Fact Check: No Petrol Shortage In Pune; Rumors Of Crisis Amid Border Tensions Debunked
As tensions escalate along the Pakistan border, several rumors regarding a potential shortage of petrol have been circulating on social media, causing panic among the public. Such rumors are also strong in Pune and few Punekars went to petrol pump to fill up the tanks of their vehicle.
Meanwhile, Dhruv Ruparel, President of the Petrol Dealers Association (PDA), has stepped forward to address these concerns.
Ruparel clarified, "The rumors circulating on social media urging people to stock up on petrol due to an alleged shortage are false. There is an ample supply of fuel, and no shortage exists at this time."
He further explained that the only issue affecting fuel availability is a technical failure at one of the key suppliers, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), which has caused temporary delays in the loading of fuel at its stations. Despite this, fuel stocks remain sufficient at petrol pumps across the city.
“We urge the public not to panic. There is no reason for concern. Petrol pumps are well-stocked, and there is no need to rush to refuel,” Ruparel reassured the citizens.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and all relevant agencies have been instructed to ensure the smooth distribution of fuel across the city. Pune residents have been advised to remain calm and avoid falling victim to misleading rumors in these uncertain times.
