All about Bayraktar TB2 drone of Turkey which has now emerged as a deadly weapon

Early Thursday morning, Pakistan launched a Bayraktar TB2 drone in a cross-border attack aimed at an Indian military logistics base in the Jammu sector near the international border. The drone, equipped with guided weapons, was part of an apparent attempt to damage key infrastructure. This marks one of the first recorded uses of the Turkish-made Bayraktar drone by Pakistan in direct action against India. However, Indian forces detected the drone in time using ground-based radar systems. Responding swiftly, the Indian military fired an Akash surface-to-air missile, which successfully intercepted and destroyed the drone before it could hit its target.

On Friday, Indian defence officials confirmed that this drone strike was part of a much larger operation. During a special joint briefing held by the Ministry of External Affairs, Army, and Air Force, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi revealed that Pakistan had launched between 300 to 400 drones across 36 different locations, from Leh in the north to Sir Creek in the south. These drones were aimed at military facilities near major towns and cities in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan.

The Indian military stated that they had anticipated such a move and were fully prepared, with air defence systems like Akash deployed across sensitive regions. Most of the incoming drones were neutralized before causing any damage.
