ACB books two Tehsildars, Patwari

JAMMU, May 9: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a formal case against two Tehsildars, one Patwari and others for facilitating illegal transfer of State land in favour of the land grabbers.
A case FIR number 07/2025, under Section 5(1)(d) read with Sec. 5(2), J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and Sec. 120-B, 420, 467, 468, 471, RPC, has been registered at Police Station ACB Jammu against Riaz Ahmed, the then Patwari Nagrota; Rajesh Kumar Thakur, the then Tehsildar Nagrota; Nissar Ahmed Shad, then Tehsildar Nagrota, the beneficiaries and others, for facilitating illegal transfer of a big chunk of State land in favour of the land grabbers and the beneficiaries by abusing their official positions.
During the course of verification, it surfaced that an inheritance mutation of the land measuring 04 kanals in village Panjgrain was done in favour of Sudarshan Singh & Raghbir Singh, sons of late Krishan Singh and Bidhya Devi in equal shares, in violation of the provisions of Govt Order No. LB-6/C of 1958 and S-432 of 1966.
Further, as per Jamabandi of 1969-70 of village Panjgrain, the land in question was recorded as State land with kind of soil as Gair Mumkin Jaar, whereas the entries of the beneficiaries have not been found recorded since 1957-58 in the said Jamabandi.
Two more mutations of land in village Panjgrain, Tehsil Nagrota were found illegal. Further investigation is going on.
