Him Krishi Yojna embraces GIS for inclusive agricultural growth

A state-level one-day workshop aimed at promoting inclusive growth in the agricultural sector under the Him Krishi Yojna was held at the State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Mashobra. The event was graced by C Paulrasu, Secretary (Agriculture); Kumad Singh, Director of Agriculture and Jagdish Purohit, representative from GIZ.

The workshop centred on the integration of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology into agricultural practices and provided hands-on training to officers from the Department of Agriculture. Key strategies were formulated during the session to accelerate the effective implementation of the Him Krishi Yojna.

Director Kumad Singh directed departmental officers to ensure timely and efficient execution of the scheme, aligning their efforts with its core objectives.

Addressing the gathering, Secretary Paulrasu emphasised the transformative potential of GIS in enhancing agricultural development. He instructed all officers to adopt GIS tools not only for precision and productivity but also to ensure sustainable resource use. He further stressed that the quality of implementation must not be compromised, urging officers to fully utilise technology for smarter farming and long-term benefits.

The workshop was attended by 70 departmental officers, including Joint Directors, Deputy Directors, Subject Matter Specialists and Sub-Divisional Soil Conservation Officers.
