138 flights cancelled at Delhi Airport as India-Pak tensions persist

New Delhi: Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, as many as 138 flights to and from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) have been cancelled. The Delhi Airport has issued an advisory for passengers, requesting them to follow all regulations and cooperate with security staff.

Notably, 63 arriving and 66 departing domestic flights from the IGI airport have been cancelled since Friday night. International arrivals and departures were also cancelled, reports said.

The Delhi Airport took to X and informed that some flight schedules will be impacted, however, airport operations will remain normal. “Due to evolving airspace conditions and strengthened security measures”. Airport authorities also urged flyers to avoid relying on unverified information.

Airlines have also issued advisories requesting flyers to report at least three hours before departure.

“In view of an order by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on enhanced measures at airports, passengers across India are advised to arrive at their respective airports at least 3 hours prior to scheduled departure to ensure smooth check-in and boarding. Check-in closes 75 mins before departure.,” Air India posted on X.

IndiGo also issued an advisory requesting, “We request you to allow some extra time for your journey to accommodate security checks and formalities.”

India has temporarily halted commercial air travel at 27 airports, primarily those near the India-Pakistan border and located on significant Air Force bases.
