India shoots down 6 Pakistani drones in Kachchh: Report
Kachchh: At least six Pakistani suicide drones were spotted and shot down by the Indian Armed Forces near the international borders in Gujarat’s Kachchh before they could reach their intended targets. As per initial reports, four suicide drones were shot down from the Naliya Air Force Station and two from the IAF base in Bhuj.
The suicide drones were also spotted in other border areas of the Kachchh district early in the morning.
“A Pakistan Army armed drone has been brought down by the Indian Army using the L-70 air defence guns in the Kutch sector of Gujarat,” IndiaTV quoted a Defence official.
It is to be noted that the drones were spotted amid a complete blackout that is enforced in Kachchh and parts of the Patan and Banaskantha districts, which are close to the Indo-Pak border.
“Considering the current situation on the border, a blackout is declared in the Kutch district until further notice. A blackout has been enforced in all the villages of Suigam and Vav talukas of Banaskantha district amid prevailing situation,” said the Gujarat CMO in a post on X.
Meanwhile, Pakistan on Saturday claimed that its three airbases were targeted by Indian suicide drones and missiles. The Pakistan military spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry, in a press briefing in Islamabad at around 4 am, said that airbases named: Nur Khan in Rawalpindi’s Chaklala, Murid in Chakwal, and Rafiqui in Jhang district’s Shorkot, of the Pakistan Air Force, were targeted. However, he refrained from providing more details in order to back his claims.
This claim by Pakistan has come amid the escalating tensions between the two countries following ‘Operation Sindoor’, a retaliation operation by New Delhi for a terror attack on April 22 that claimed 26 lives in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.
Nur Khan air base in Rawalpindi, where the Pakistan military has its headquarters, is around 10 kilometres from the capital Islamabad.
Notably, Nur Khan air base is located in Rawalpindi, 10 km away from Islamabad. It is the airbase where Pak military has its headquarters.
Recently, the Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) announced that Pak’s airspace has been closed from 3.15 am to 12 noon for all kinds of air traffic.
Notably, The PAA is going to share further updates at 12 noon today.
On Friday night, Pakistan conducted a second consecutive wave of drone attacks against 26 Indian locations, ranging from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat. The Indian defence ministry reported that these attacks, aimed at critical infrastructure such as airports and air bases, were successfully repelled.
On Thursday evening, Indian air defence units intercepted at least eight missiles fired by Pakistan towards the border areas of Jammu, including the strategically important Jammu airport, defence sources had said.
