‘Godzilla x Kong: Supernova’ teaser drops: Titans to return for another showdown

Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros have unveiled the teaser of the third instalment in the Godzilla x Kong franchise. The film, titled Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, is under production, with the movie slated to hit the screens on March 26, 2027. With the expected release of the highly anticipated sequel, speculations about its storyline have already made rounds on the internet.

The 43-second teaser is set in a bustling call centre at the Monarch, an organisation set up to track down Titans. The camera pans to a computer, where an emergency alert message pops-up on screen, which reads: “To report a Titan sighting, call (240) MONARCH.”

According to Deadline, the Grant Sputore directorial promises to host several new human characters alongside the returning Titans, Godzilla and Kong, as the world confronts a looming apocalyptic threat. Dan Stevens reprises his role as Trapper Beasley, the Titan veterinarian who made his debut in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The fresh ensemble cast includes Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, Delroy Lindo, Mathew Modine, Alycia Debnam-Carey and Sam Neill. The movie is penned by Dave Callaham and Michael Lloyd Green.

The New Empire concluded with Godzilla, Kong and Mothra parting ways after their battle with the Skar King. It’s still unclear if the fan favourite Mothra will appear in Supernova, adding to the suspense around the new action flick. The upcoming sequel is the sixth movie in the lauded Monsterverse franchise, which includes Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Godzilla vs Kong (2021) and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the latter being the highest-grossing instalment in the franchise.
