Fragments of suspected missiles found at 3 places in Kangra dist
Remnants of a suspected defused missiles or drones fired by Pakistan were found this morning at three different locations in neighbouring Jawali Assembly constituency under the Nurpur police district.
Meanwhile, area residents heaved a sigh of relief after India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire in the evening.
The local residents found metallic remnants at Bherkhud, Sidatha in Chubuan gram panchayat and Bhalera in Ambal panchayat at around 8 am.
They immediately informed the local police, who rushed to the spot.
The Nurpur police district is an inter-state border area near Pathankot in Punjab, where Pakistan is resorting to unsuccessful drone attacks for the last two nights. The remnants are likely to be splinters of drones destroyed by the Indian Army at Pathankot on Friday night.
Incidentally, these fragments had fallen in vacant land or village fields.
Nurpur SP Ashok Ratan said authorities of the nearby Army cantonment were informed about the incident and a team of Army experts had taken these fragments into their custody for investigation.
Similar fragments were also recovered from Atahara bridge and Gangath in Indora Assembly constituency on Friday. These were also handed over to the Army authorities. Similar parts had also hit Damtal in Indora near local Ram Gopal temple on Saturday noon. Indora DSP Sanjeev Kumar had rushed to the spot. He confirmed that no loss occurred due to the incident. A team of Army experts had been handed over these remnants.
Earlier, the Nurpur SP had issued an advisory to the people of the area to stay at home and venture out only in case of an emergency.
The people should not to touch any suspicious object or splinter found in their area and inform the local police if they chance upon any such thing.
He appealed them not to disseminate fake news, ignore rumours and believe only in information being shared by government sources.
The local administration has also established a control room with contact number 91-1893-299400.
