India brought Pakistan to its knees: City BJP chief

City BJP chief Jatinder Pal Malhotra termed the decision of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan as the victory of the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Malhotra said the government showed to Pakistan that it would not compromise on the issue of terrorism. If terrorist activities were planned and executed from the Pakistan soil, India had power and right to eliminate those responsible for this. He said India had brought Pakistan to its knees in a few days. He said despite the ceasefire, India would have to be careful in future as “we cannot believe Pakistan, which had repeatedly backstabbed our country”. The Pahalgam killings were the worst form of terror as Hindus were killed by the terrorists after asking their religion.

Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla said Pakistan agreed to the ceasefire only after witnessing the strength and strong willpower of India.

City Congress president HS Lucky said the war was no solution to any problem. “The Congress is proud of our brave armed forces. We hope that the good sense will prevail on our neighbours,” he said.

Vijay Pal Singh, president, city AAP, welcomed the ceasefire declared in the evening and described it as an important and commendable initiative in the direction of peace and stability in the area. He said war-like conditions had a deep impact on normal life as well as business.

Sanjeev Chadha, president of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, and Charanjiv Singh, chairman, also welcome the ceasefire. Hitesh Puri, president, CRAWFED, said, “We give full credit of the ceasefire to the brave armed forces. City residents also came out in full support of the forces and diligently followed all instruction given by the government in the challenging times.
