Governor hosts interfaith harmony meeting

An interfaith harmony meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at the Raj Bhawan here today. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, besides representatives of various religious communities attended the meeting.

The Governor said, “Pakistan has always harboured and promoted terrorism. Pakistan, instead of exercising restraint, committed a grave crime by attacking civilians in India, targeting border villages as well as places of worship.”

The Governor underlined the significance of the interfaith harmony meeting and the need to reinforce unity, mutual coexistence and communal harmony. He added that the entire nation was united against Pakistan’s provocation and attempts to disrupt peace along the Line of Control.

The Governor urged all religious leaders and communities to collectively condemn divisive propaganda instigated by Pakistan and remain vigilant against misinformation being spread through social media platforms.

The Chief Minister said that whenever the country or its cultural fabric had been threatened, Indians had never hesitated to sacrifice their lives for the nation. He added that irrespective of political differences, the entire nation and the Opposition were standing firmly with the Central Government in this time of national crisis.
