NEW DELHI, May 10: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today convened a crucial meeting to review the current situation with BJP office bearers of Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha constituency, represented by him as Member of Parliament.
The meeting was attended by BJP District Presidents of all the six organisational districts of the constituency, namely Kathua, Udhampur, Basohli, Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar as well as prominent party office-bearers of these districts.
The purpose of the meeting was to assess the preparedness and ongoing public outreach efforts in light of the prevailing security scenario. This meeting followed a series of reviews conducted with respective district administrations.
Dr Jitendra Singh assured that such meetings will be held on regular basis and in addition, he is also otherwise available for any other input at any time.
During the meeting , BJP District Presidents briefed the Minister on the ground-level activities and public welfare initiatives undertaken by their units. Dedicated teams had been constituted for different tasks like, for example, ensuring smooth food supply, care of the people evacuated from the borders, distribution of medicines, blood donation camps etc, he was told.
Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the need for intensified public engagement. He advised Yuva Morcha (BJYM) to hold civil defence awareness camps and the Mahila Morcha to organise group meetings to educate young mothers how to handle kids during black-out periods, ensuring safety and psychological well-being of young children.
The BJP leaders expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the construction of over 2400 modern bunkers along the International Border, which the people find more comfortable, safe and preferable compared to any other shelter place. With nearly 70% occupancy, these bunkers have transformed into safe and secure residential spaces for displaced citizens.
“These bunkers are no less than living room apartments. People feel safe and are reluctant to vacate due to the sense of security they provide,” said Dr. Jitendra Singh. He further informed that the District Administration has been directed to ensure regular upkeep and maintenance of these bunkers.
Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed satisfaction over close coordination between administration and civil society and advised to make it more robust. If there is any observation, we may subtly sort it out with administration instead of making a public issue at this critical hour, he said.
Encouraging party workers, Dr. Jitendra Singh stated:”Prime Minister Modi will ensure our safety, but as responsible citizens, we must emerge as strong pillars of strength. It is our collective responsibility to support, reassure, and stand by every citizen during challenging times.”
He called for regular public meetings, confidence-building exercises, and proactive grassroots coordination to ensure no citizen feels left behind.
