India-Pakistan Conflict: Defence Ministry Briefing At 11 AM Today; No Reports Of Shelling Or Drone Attacks Overnight In Border Areas

New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence is scheduled to hold a crucial media briefing at 11 am on Sunday to address the prevailing security situation following a fresh round of tension between India and Pakistan. The briefing comes in the wake of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s announcement late Friday that both countries had reached an understanding to cease all military actions across land, air, and sea with immediate effect.

Violation Attempts By Pakistan After Declaration Of Ceasefire

However, just five hours after this declaration, reports of ceasefire violations by Pakistan began to emerge, casting uncertainty over the agreement. Foreign Secretary Misri asked Pakistan to act with “seriousness and responsibility” and to take appropriate steps to control these violations. Despite the initial breach, Indian officials have confirmed that the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) has since stabilised.

No Reports Of Shelling Or Drone Attacks Overnight

Security officials reported no incidents of enemy fire, movement, or contact during the night of May 10–11. Morning visuals from sensitive areas such as Punjab’s Ferozepur and Pathankot, as well as Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, Akhnoor, Uri and Rajouri, reflected calm conditions. There were no reports of drone activity, firing, or shelling overnight.

Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir confirmed that the security environment remains normal, with no unusual developments along either the International Border (IB) or the LoC. However, Punjab continues to operate under heightened security, especially in border districts, as a precautionary measure.

Punjab Remains Under High Alert

A red alert remains in place in Amritsar district, with the administration issuing a fresh advisory urging residents to stay indoors and away from windows. The Deputy Commissioner confirmed early Saturday morning that while power supply had been restored, the red alert remains active.

"Sirens will sound to indicate the ongoing alert. Please don’t leave your house, we’ll notify you once we receive clearance," the statement said, encouraging public cooperation without panic.

Robust border patrols have been put into place, with local authorities working in coordination with defence and paramilitary forces to ensure continued peace and vigilance.
