Over 30 airports, including key facilities in the north and northwestern areas, remain closed despite India and Pakistan agreeing to a ceasefire on Saturday. Delhi airport continues to operate normally.

The civil aviation ministry and the Airports Authority of India announced the temporary closure of 32 airports during the early hours of Saturday amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor.

In a statement on Saturday, the aviation ministry said Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) have been issued announcing "temporary closure of 32 airports across northern and western India for all civil flight operations" till May 15. Authorities also temporarily closed 25 segments of Air Traffic Service under the Mumbai and Delhi regions in the wake of drone strikes by Pakistan.

India suspended civil aviation operations in the north and western regions after Pakistan launched drones and projectiles targeting critical Indian military establishments in retaliation for Operation Sindoor. India carried out 'Operation Sindoor' on Wednesday in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack. 26 persons were killed in the gruesome attack in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, operations are continuing normally at Delhi airport. In an advisory issued by the airport on Sunday, Delhi Airport said its operations continue as normal. "However, due to changing airspace dynamics and enhanced security protocols, some flight schedules and processing times at security checkpoints may be affected," it said.

Passengers were advised to follow updates provided by respective airlines and comply with hand baggage and check-in luggage regulations.

Passengers were advised to check the latest flight status through their airline or on the official Delhi airport website.

Airports have also implemented a stringent second ladder point check in the wake of tensions between India and Pakistan.
