'Operations Are Still Ongoing,' Says IAF As PM Modi Chairs High-Level Security Meet

After India and Pakistan announced a cessation of firing and military action against each other on Saturday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) stated on Sunday that "operations are still ongoing" and urged the public to refrain from speculation and the dissemination of unverified information.

The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Indian Air Force posted:"The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully executed its assigned tasks in Operation Sindoor with precision and professionalism. Operations were conducted in a deliberate and discreet manner, in alignment with national objectives."

In the post, the IAF also mentioned that a detailed briefing would be conducted in due course.

"The IAF urges everyone to refrain from speculation and the dissemination of unverified information," the post added.

The IAF's statement comes as a high-level security meeting is underway at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence. Chaired by the Prime Minister, the meeting includes the Chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

This meeting follows a day after India and Pakistan announced a mutual ceasefire understanding, temporarily easing escalating tensions along the border.

Defence experts believe the IAF’s statement is aimed at countering fake news circulating in international media about an Indian pilot, as well as disinformation propagated by the Pakistani military on social media. Rather than hinting at ongoing or future military action, the focus appears to be on dispelling misinformation and maintaining operational secrecy.

The Ministry of Defence was initially scheduled to hold a crucial media briefing at 11 am today to address the prevailing security situation amid renewed tensions between India and Pakistan. However, reports indicate that the briefing has been postponed and will now take place after PM Modi’s key meeting with top officials concludes.
