Venkatesh Prasad Calls Out Trump's Contradictions, Shares Proof On X
Former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad, known for his bold and factual opinions, has taken a strong stance against former U.S. President Donald Trump, accusing him of double standards on Pakistan.
Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, and reports of IMF aid being extended to Pakistan, Trump made a statement regarding the ceasefire. Prasad, however, wasn't convinced and responded sharply.
Prasad reminds Trump of his 2018 statement
In a pointed response, Prasad shared a tweet made by Trump in 2018, where the former U.S. President had described Pakistan as a country that "lies and deceives" while sheltering terrorists. Trump had then written that the U.S. had "foolishly given Pakistan more than Dollar 33 billion in aid over 15 years," only to be repaid with "lies and deceit."
Prasad questioned the change in Trump's stance, asking why he now appears more sympathetic towards Pakistan, despite the country's track record remaining the same.
"Nothing has changed about Pakistan"
Prasad called Pakistan a "terrorist nation" and criticized the U.S. for supporting it through IMF loans. He said, "The Pakistan you described in 2018 is the same today. They are deceiving not just the U.S., but the entire world. Giving them aid is equivalent to funding terrorism."
He also reminded people that Pakistan had sheltered Osama bin Laden, mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, until American forces located and killed him in Abbottabad.
Prasad's statement quickly went viral, drawing widespread support from the public. Many appreciated his courage in calling out a global leader for perceived hypocrisy. Social media users hailed him for doing what many political figures have avoided - openly criticizing Trump for appearing to shift his position based on convenience.
