Akhilesh urges politicians not to use armed forces for ‘self-display’
LUCKNOW, May 11: ) Amid the recently concluded military confrontation with Pakistan and prevailing “uneasy” calm at the LoC, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday appealed to political leaders to refrain from using defence-related backdrops as photo opportunities, urging them instead to show solidarity with the armed forces.
“In the current highly sensitive environment, ‘defence-security’ has become an even more serious issue. Politicians are requested to please not make it a photo background or selfie point. This is a time to stand with the armed forces, not alone for self-display,” Yadav said in a post in Hindi on X.
While Yadav did not name anyone directly, his comment is seen targeting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who posed alongside a BrahMos missile or its model, in Lucknow at an event. (PTI)
