Rs 3.77 cr for Chappar Chiri road
The Punjab Government has granted approval to the upgrade of the road between Chappar Chiri Khurd and Chappar Chiri Kalan, which leads to the historic Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial here. The project will cost Rs 3.77 crore.
The road serves as a parallel link to the Kharar-Landran stretch. After upgrade, there will be less traffic on that stretch.
The project entails upgrading the 18-foot-wide road, spanning 2.05 km, at a cost of Rs 377.45 lakh. The scope of work includes the installation of 80 mm interlocking pavers and a five-year maintenance provision at a cost of Rs 8.52 lakh.
The road, which has been awaiting upgrade since 2018, witnesses heavy traffic as it is an alternative route linking Mohali to the Kharar-Landran road.
In view of the Fateh Diwas march scheduled for tomorrow, non-bituminous patchwork has been carried out on the stretch by the PWD, as a temporary measure to provide some relief to devotees.
Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh said several other link roads in the area would also be renovated or repaired in the coming days.
