What is humidity?

Humidity refers to the amount of water vapor present in the air. It's usually expressed as relative humidity (RH), which is a percentage showing how close the air is to being fully saturated with moisture. For example, 70 per cent RH means the air contains 70 per cent of the moisture it could hold at that temperature.

Why is Tamil Nadu experiencing rainfall?

Tamil Nadu is experiencing rainfall due to the Northeast Monsoon, which is characterised by winds blowing from the northeast towards the southern Indian peninsula. These winds pick up moisture from the Bay of Bengal as they move inland, and they bring rain to the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu. The eastern coast of India, including Tamil Nadu, is positioned to receive rainfall from the Northeast Monsoon as the winds blow from the sea to the land.
