India Pakistan ceasefire LIVE Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his first public address after the recent conflict with Pakistan, made it clear that military operations have only been paused for now. He said any future steps would depend on how Pakistan behaves going forward. PM Modi spoke about Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 25 that claimed 26 lives. He described that attack as one of the cruelest acts of terrorism. Referring to the symbolism of “sindoor”—a traditional mark worn by many Indian married women—he said the enemies have now faced the consequences of trying to take that away.

He emphasized that Operation Sindoor was not just a mission name, but a reflection of India’s strong will, and the world saw that determination turn into action. According to the Prime Minister, the operation led to the elimination of over 100 dangerous terrorists in both Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The operation which began on the night of May 7–8, caused tensions to rise quickly, leading to a series of attacks and counterattacks between the two countries. However, on Saturday, both sides agreed to halt all military actions on land, in the air, and at sea starting from 5 PM. But shortly after this agreement, Pakistan broke the ceasefire.
