Two Indian students killed in road accident in Pennsylvania, Indian Consulate mourns loss

Two Indian students living in Cleveland, Ohio lost their lives in a car accident on Saturday, May 10, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The local coroner confirmed that the victims were Saurav Prabhakar, aged 23, and Manav Patel, aged 20. Both were declared dead at the scene due to serious injuries from the crash. Their deaths have been ruled as accidental.

The accident happened around 7:08 a.m. near mile marker 286.5 in Brecknock Township. According to Pennsylvania State Police, the car veered off the road, hit a tree, and then crashed into a bridge. Emergency teams arrived quickly, but sadly found the driver and a passenger in the back already dead. Another person sitting in the front was badly hurt and was taken to Reading Hospital for treatment.

The Consulate General of India in New York shared its heartfelt sorrow over the tragic loss of the sudents. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Consulate expressed its condolences to the families of Manav Patel and Saurav Prabhakar, who died in a recent car accident.

“We are deeply saddened to hear about the tragic accident that took the lives of two Indian students,” the Consulate said. They added that their thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families and assured them of full support during this difficult time. The Consulate is staying in contact with the families and offering all possible help.
